Group Materials Manager

Our client builds, fits out & manages complex engineering & construction projects for leading companies. This on-site role involves the management of the material coordination, and the personnel involved.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides interface between construction & procurement related to material management on projects.
  • Identify problems with materials at the warehouse & construction site & flag back to requisitioning group.
  • Provide guidance & support to a team of warehouse / stores / yard personnel & ensures the proper receipt, handling, storage & issuance of all equipment, instrumentation, & materials for the projects.
  • Ensure correct procedures for material receiving at site.
  • Ensure that the stores are kept in a proper manner.
  • Ensure that an efficient delivery service is provided to the project from the warehouse & all documentation is recorded.
  • Generate material reports as required.
  • Prepare & present reports on materials handling performance.
  • Liaise with relevant person on site regarding any delivery discrepancies & any matters to be resolved.
  • Liaise with the site teams & coordinate the removal & disposal of excess / scrap materials.
  • Follow & maintain standards of Quality in accordance with Quality System requirements.
  • Accountable for accuracy & timeliness of work produced by team.
  • Assigns, monitors & reviews work for accuracy & progress.
  • Has responsibility for or gives significant input for recruitment, retention, discipline, & performance management.
  • Determines how to solve problems where information comes from a variety of sources & may not be readily available.
  • Must assess multiple alternatives & potential consequences to determine & communicate best outcome.
  • Recommend & implement procedures to improve safety, efficiency, quality, cost, etc. within scope of role.

Essential Criteria

  • 5-6 years experience in warehouse/material management.
  • Understand critical path importance of having material availability & escalating appropriately when risk identified.
  • Can anticipate & proactively resolve issues using internal & external resources.
  • Can discuss site requirements & schedule.
  • Independently consolidate & analyse information from various sources to develop complex Material Control Plans.
  • Knowledge of materials used in Construction Industry
  • Knowledge of SAP MM
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain & inventory management systems
  • There is some EU travel to projects for up to 7 to 10 days on start-up projects in the EU.
  • Ideally a Degree/dip in supply chain or similar
