RSG's CEO Mike Beesley features heavily in HR Grapevine magazine's latest edition, in an article entitled 'How fast should the recruitment process be?' The article offers comprehensive ways of applying valuable industry knowledge, which you can read in full here.

"Look at it from the candidate's point of view; if it takes a company a week to respond to their application, then they probably aren't the kind of company you want to work for. Speed and efficiency reflect well on a company's culture as quick decision makers.

"A great strategy is to work backwards. Once the client has set a start date they can begin discussions with the recruiters to make decisions around when the interview process should begin, when they want to see CVs, what boxes the candidates in the talent pool need to tick. This way, we can create a practical plan.

"One fatal mistake that many companies and recruiters firms make is assuming that candidates want to work for them above their competitors. There is an element of presumption in the notion that the client is the only party to be pleased; candidate's themselves must also be won. Both clients and candidates test the water when recruiting or seeking a new role. It would be naïve to assume that they are not also seeking opportunities elsewhere. They keep their options open, as you expect a smart candidate to do, and it is therefore our job to be their best option.

"Companies can stay at the top of their game by constantly reviewing their processes. There is always room for improvement, and recruiters should frequently streamline their processes to ensure that they are applying best practice."
