Private viewing of Hogarth exhibition at Bristol Museum & Art Gallery

On Thursday 28th May, RSG held a private viewing of the 'William Hogarth; Painter & Printmaker' exhibition at Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, in partnership with the Tate. The exhibition will be showing from 16th May to 31st August 2015.
UWE Professor of History & Heritage Steve Poole gave a fascinating and engaging talk on Hogarth prior to the opening of the exhibition, illustrating the artist's life, times and works.
This exhibition is the most comprehensive showing of the artist's work ever in Bristol and the South West. Witty, satirical, subversive and hugely talented, Hogarth remains one of the most fascinating and innovative artists from the eighteenth century. This exhibition will explore an artist who was strikingly modern in character, confronting subjects and themes - the city, manners, social integration, crime, political corruption, charity and patriotism - that continue to preoccupy us today.
