Dublin; famed for the friendliness of its community, its lively and fun-loving culture, and for its numerous must-see tourist spots. Ireland is Europe’s fastest growing economy and it has Dublin at the heart of it, which incidentally, also makes Dublin one of our favourite places for doing business. In this blog we’re going to look at the top reasons our Ireland office are proud to call Dublin home.

IT and Digital

Dublin is home to some of the world’s leading companies like Google, Microsoft, Facebook and Accenture. Astoundingly, 9 out of the top 10 global IT companies have offices in Dublin, illustrating it’s gravitas within the industry. Dublin doesn’t just attract IT heavy weights however, it also boasts an ever-increasing catalogue of start-up companies resulting in an innovative and growing tech hub. In recent years software and IT have become so well established in the area that 45% of Dublin’s inward Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) are being directed towards the industry.

Eurozone

Dublin holds for itself a unique position with the Eurozone for business relationships. As the only English speaking country within the Eurozone it offers the perfect location for companies from the USA, for instance, to set up a European base. Dublin also boasts one of the youngest, most highly educated, workforces in Europe. This is perhaps best reflected in statistics which show the Irish economy growing at 7.8% in 2015, the fastest rate in Europe.

Talent

Over half of Dublin’s 30-34 year olds have completed third-level education and despite the stress the Irish economy came under in 2013, unemployment has fallen for the past three years, down to less than 10%.

Business Incentive

Ireland’s corporate tax rate has further helped to create a very favourable FDI proposition attracting international companies looking for a competitive edge. A corporate tax rate of 12.5% and R&D Credits of 25% mean Dublin is commercially one of the most attractive cities in Europe to do business in.

Industries

Dublin is home to businesses across a range of sectors including: Financial Services, IT, Life Sciences, Biotech, Medical Devices and Pharmaceutical. The success of attracting and growing business in these sectors is contributed to by a “pro-business” culture and infrastructure.

Dublin is a relatively compact city, which also contributes to the ease of doing business. Over 1,150 overseas companies have chosen Ireland as their European base. The Financial Services sector is particularly attractive as Dublin is the sector hub providing the Irish Financial Service Centre by the River Liffey.
