Controls Engineer

This multinational company is involved in sustainable plastic moulding and works with top brands like Tesla, BMW, Xerox & Abbott to design, manufacture & deliver sustainable products for the vehicles & equipment of the future.

The Role:

As a Controls Engineer in their Innovation Centre, you will play a critical role in developing & implementing control systems for automation solutions.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, mechanical, & electrical engineers, to ensure the effective & efficient delivery of automation projects.

This role involves developing control programs, integrating new technologies, & troubleshooting to optimise machine performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop & implement control programs for automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, robots, servos, & instrumentation devices.
  • Liaise with the design team to specify control system hardware requirements.
  • Research & coordinate the introduction & implementation of new control technologies.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers to systematically debug & optimise machine programs.
  • Communicate effectively with different project team members to ensure alignment & progress.
  • Ensure project timelines & targets are met.

You will have:

  • Honours degree (Level 8) in a controls-related discipline – electrical, mechatronics, automation, instrumentation, computer science etc.
  • At least three years in a similar role or a more recent graduate with ambition and a passion for this area of work
  • Experience in programming control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, robots, & servos.
  • Ability to configure communication systems & networks.
  • Strong understanding of machine controls & ability to interpret electrical & pneumatic drawings.
  • Excellent time management, organisational, & communication skills.
  • Experience with Machine Vision, RoboStudio & electrical CAD software is a plus.
