Environmental Impact Assessment Specialist

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process for large-scale Renewable Energy projects, including the delivery of the Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) and Appropriate Assessment/Natura Impact Statement (AA/NIS).
  • Provide environmental expertise to support the Planning Team and inform business strategy, ensuring compliance with planning and environmental regulations.
  • Stay updated on changes in planning/environmental legislation, policies, and development plans. Contribute to company submissions as needed.
  • Assist the Stakeholder and Advocacy team in developing communication and consultation plans with local communities and stakeholders.
  • Prepare specifications for third-party services and assist in procurement processes.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental policies, and relevant EU and National regulations.
  • Mentor and assist junior staff, particularly in EIA and Appropriate Assessment processes.
  • Participate in performance management to achieve team objectives.

Requirements:

  • Hons Degree (Lvl 8 FETAC) in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field; Postgraduate qualification (Lvl 9 FETAC) is a plus.
  • 5+ years’ experience leading EIAR and AA/NIS preparation for large-scale projects.
  • Strong understanding of the EIA process and Irish planning policy/legislation.
  • Experience in renewables or related infrastructure projects is desirable; technical expertise in disciplines like ecology, noise, or air quality is a plus .
  • Experience with projects of varying priorities, risk profiles, and timelines is beneficial.
