Risk Analyst - Mechanical Engineering

An important Irish utility organisation are growing and are keen to add to the engineering team.

If successful your role will be :

  • To support engineering as a technical risk expert to successfully manage occupational risk.
  • Assess & evaluate potential risks & uncertainties associated with engineering projects.
  • Utilize statistical analysis & modelling techniques to quantify & prioritise risks.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies & recommend actions to minimise project vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather & analyse data related to project risks.
  • Generate comprehensive risk reports & communicate findings to s/holders.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations to ensure compliance & safety.
  • Continuously monitor & update risk assessments as projects evolve.
  • Help create contingency plans to address unforeseen events.
  • Support decision-making processes by providing data-driven insights on risk exposure.
  • Contribute to the overall risk mgt framework & culture within the engineering dept.
  • Work with mechanical engineering; chemistry division; H&S; finance; procurement; contractors, quality, maintenance; fleet dept
  • Work with teams to proactively identify & evaluate risks in engineering maintenance, projects, occupational H&S
  • Develop & implement risk mgt strategies to safeguard project success.Provide expertise in quantitative & qualitative risk analysis methodologies.
  • Maintain compliance with industry regs & safety stds..
  • Foster a culture of risk awareness & effective risk mgt within the dept..

Qualifications & Experience - Essential:

  • Expertise in area of Risk assessment & mgt
  • Technical knowledge & experience in heavy industry
  • Can manage resources
  • Safety Focus & knowledge.
  • Planning & organising skills
  • Can work on own initiative
  • Presentation/ Comms skills.
  • Understand of the regulatory env't & application of systems such as CSM Risk
  • Prior use of various risk assessment methods such as Bow tie, Zonal Hazard analysis, FMEA, Fault tree etc.

Desirable:

  • 5 years' exp in risk analysis, using various methods of quantitative analysis
  • Understand of railway operations, vehicles & components design
  • Understand commercial & legal risks
  • Knowledge of railway stds. & appropriate industry stds. such as: CSM REA, ISO 12100, RAMS

Initially this will be a 12 month FTC with a view to extension or permanency for the successful candidate. You must be legally eligible to work in Ireland without sponsorship.
