Senior Buyer - Construction

In this key role you will: -

• Get involved in procurement activities for complex engineering and construction projects
• Support the building of infrastructure through strategic sourcing and supply chain excellence.
• Contribute to a high-performing team in a fast moving environment that encourages personal and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver a professional, competitive, and efficient buying process using tried and tested processes and systems.
• Good understanding of construction tools and plant equipment
• Lead and mentor junior procurement personnel as needed.
• Purchase and hire equipment, materials, and services for assigned projects.
• Manage the full procurement-to-pay cycle, from sourcing to invoice resolution.
• Source suppliers and conduct negotiations to secure optimal terms.
• Ensure timely and quality delivery of goods and services for project needs.
• Perform bid analysis and process purchase orders.
• Develop and maintain procurement schedules alongside project and planning teams.
• Liaise with suppliers and accounts payable to resolve invoice queries.
• Operate independently with minimal supervision.
• Prepare regular reports on purchasing
• Build strong relationships with internal teams and external suppliers.
• Negotiate vendor/supplier alliances and rebate agreements
• Assist with reallocation or disposal of excess materials.
• Undertake site visits to engage with project teams.
• European travel at short notice for up to a week at a time (expenses will be covered).

• Key Requirements

  • Proven experience in a similar role within the engineering or construction industry.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Collaborative mindset with a team-oriented approach.
  • Good negotiation skills.
  • Hold a third-level qualification in supply chain or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience with SAP systems would be ideal.
  • Familiarity with construction tools and plant equipment is really welcome.
  • You will not need to be sponsored to work in Ireland
