Senior Consumer Pricing and Portfolio Actuary

Sanderson are partnering with a leading health insurer is seeking a dynamic and experienced actuary to take on a pivotal role in driving commercial success and shaping the future of its consumer health insurance offerings.

This senior leadership position oversees two high-performing teams-Consumer Pricing and Portfolio Management-tasked with pricing private medical insurance products and steering portfolio strategy across diverse customer and product segments. Reporting to the Head of Underwriting within the Commercial Markets & Product division, this role offers a unique blend of strategic influence, technical depth, and people leadership.

What You'll Do

• Lead the development and execution of best-in-class consumer pricing strategies across portfolio, product, and benefit levels.
• Drive the success of the portfolio strategy, delivering expert insights and reporting to senior leadership.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Commercial Markets, Product, Customer, and Sales teams to support innovative customer propositions.
• Champion the use of advanced analytics in partnership with the Analytics & Insights team to unlock value from sophisticated models.
• Manage and mentor a team of actuaries and analysts, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
• Ensure robust governance through peer review and oversight of all pricing activities.
• Engage with internal stakeholders and external regulators to support strategic and compliant decision-making.

What You Bring

• Qualified Actuary with at least 5 years post-qualification experience.
• Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at senior levels.
• Demonstrated analytical acumen and problem-solving expertise.
• A track record of driving innovation and managing complex projects.
• Deep understanding of health insurance pricing, especially in a community-rated environment.
• Experience in portfolio strategy and execution across varied market segments.
